The air defense or missile Defense System is a type of system that intended to shield a country against incoming missiles. The  air  defense system play very vital role to protect a country against any nuclear attack. The advanced System like S-500 , indian advance air defense system AAD and PAD can detect and destroy intercontinental ballistic or any other Missiles with accuracy of 99.5 % . Countries like india , Rusaia . Israel and the  USA have all developed their own missile Defense System. It has mechanism which can detect and destroy any Missile before they reach their target and cause any harm. The technology started in coled war era when two Super power Russia and USA tested a bunch of nuclear weapons. However its said that none of the air defense system can detect and destroy 100% Missiles attack but it will be a game changer technology in nuclear war scenario. In simple words missile' that can protect a country to any air attack called air defense system or missile' intercepter.

Country Wise missile' Defense System


India 
India planned two air defense system to protect it's land against two nuclear Rivals china and Pakistan and they both are nuclear powerd country that's why india decided to develop their Missile' defense system. Indian ballistic missile system is project to develop and deploy multi-layerded  System to protect india from ballistic missile attack . India has double tiered system consisting of tow intercepter missile' known as Prithvi Air defense system  (PAD)  for high altitude interception and advance air defense system for lower altitude. India claim that the two tiered shield can detect an incoming missile' from a range Upto 5000 km and its pretty impressive system.  The system was tested in November 2006 .

Russia 

Russia has Best missile' Defense System in the world. The country has A135  anti ballistic missile system which is currently operational around the City of Moscow to protect the mega city Moscow. Russia also have S-400, S-500 air Defense S-500 can also detect fighter aircraft. S-500 has range upto 600 km.

USA

USA started a plan in 1970 known as national  missile' defense "sentinel" but was never deployed. 1990 USA again started working on air Defense System the NMD Program is designed to counter a small  ICBM attack. Usa also has Terminal high altitude area defense (THAAD) which is known as second kost powerful defense system after Russian S-400 with the Range upto 250 km.

Israel

Israel has variety of air defense system to protect its cities from any incoming Missile' they have Arrow missile' system design by American defense organization Boeing and isreal aerospace industries (IAI). The Arrow system consist of hypersonic anti missile' intercepter with advanced AESA Raddar apart from this Israel also have iron domb for small rocket interceptor.
